at Wanderlust Yoga and Music Festivals to Raise $25,000

#ToyotaGiving tagged social media to trigger $3 donations

TORRANCE, CALIF. (June 17, 2013) – Toyota celebrates the launch of second annual #ToyotaGiving social media fundraising campaign, a program in which Toyota harnesses the power of the public via social media to raise funds for non-profits. The program will kick-off with Toyota’s sponsorship of the Wanderlust Yoga and Music Festival and a partnership with Off the Mat, Into the World™ and will continue through the year at four craft and street festivals to raise a total of $45,000 for non-profit organizations.

For Wanderlust 2013, Toyota is partnering with Off the Mat, Into the World™ (OTM), an organization that inspires community activism and ignites social change through the power of yoga.   Attendees of the Wanderlust Festival in Bondville, VT. (June 20-23), Cooperville, CO. (July 4-7) and Lake Tahoe, CA., (July 18-21) are encouraged to “share their passion” via Twitter and Instagram tagged with #ToyotaGiving to raise funds for OTM. Individuals can pose for a photo, choosing from a list of 100 stylized signs at the Toyota Retreat to declare what they are most passionate about.  Every photo posted to Twitter or Instagram using #ToyotaGiving triggers a $3 donation from Toyota, up to a total of $25,000. In addition to the opportunity to raise funds for Off the Mat, Into the World™ via #ToyotaGiving, guests of the Toyota Retreat at Wanderlust also will enjoy a D.I.Y. Inspiration Lounge, complimentary Spa Ritual Nail Art, GIF Photo Booth, silk screen tote bags, and a Prius c phone charging station.

The goal of the #ToyotaGiving initiative is more than raising funds, it’s about encouraging people to share what they are most passionate about so that they may inspire passion in others.

Off the Mat, Into the World™ is a San Francisco-based non-profit that helps individuals take the path of yoga “off the mat and into the world” through leadership trainings, community collaborations, and local and global service projects. OTM was founded with the vision of inspiring conscious, sustainable activism, and #ToyotaGiving is encouraging participants to take the first step by declaring their passions.

With the help of the community, Off the Mat, Into the World™ is hoping to generate enough participation to raise the total $25,000 through the #ToyotaGiving campaign. These funds will go toward a variety of OTM programs and initiatives such as Global Seva Challenge, an annual global service project that trains yoga leaders to raise awareness and funds in support of humanitarian initiatives in places like Haiti, Cambodia and India; The Empowered Youth Initiative, an on the ground training in collaboration with youth justice leaders to transform lives of our youth using tools of yoga, mindfulness and art, and Yoga In Action a movement of small circles lead by local teachers to bring empowerment and service projects to their communities.

The #ToyotaGiving program continues through December 2013 in conjunction with four other festivals supporting additional non-profits across the country. In addition to Wanderlust, #ToyotaGiving will activate around Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, NY. and San Francisco, CA., Pecan Street Festival in Austin, TX. and One of A Kind in Chicago, Il.
